For the longest time, I held a firm belief – true satisfaction is a myth.
I believed that human nature is fundamentally wired for expansion. We are creatures of progress; as soon as we reach a goal, the finish line moves. We want “more” because we are constantly growing, and therefore, satisfaction is a destination that stays just out of reach.
I still believe that drive to expand is part of our nature. But lately, I’ve had to confront a different reality; Constant expansion without a definition of “enough” isn’t growth – it’s exhaustion.
Redefining the Ceiling
My perspective has shifted. I’ve started to realize that the missing piece of my philosophy was the concept of intentional capacity.
If I don’t define what “enough” looks like – enough work, enough progress, enough clutter, I will spend my life sprinting toward a line that will never stop moving. Identifying “enough” isn’t about settling or abandoning my ambitions; it is about setting a foundation so I can actually stand still long enough to enjoy the life I’m building.
What does “enough” look like for you today?
